INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS
Many persons with disabilities lack the basic skills of daily living to live
more independent, productive lives. They also lack knowledge about assistive
devices that could help them in their daily lives. CID's Independent
Living Skills Program assists people with disabilities to identify resources,
strategies, and equipment for achieving maximum independence. These
services can range from arranging for someone to learn better ways of
accomplishing tasks, to identifying in-home modifications, to assisting
someone to identify, evaluate, and find funding for appropriate assistive
devices for home or work.
A topic of interest for seniors is the Fall Prevention Task
Force. The San
Mateo County Fall Prevention Task Force is a coalition
of 30 agencies
throughout San Mateo County and beyond dedicated to reducing falls among
