INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS

Lois Glover
Program Coordinator

Many persons with disabilities lack the basic skills of daily living to live more independent, productive lives. They also lack knowledge about assistive devices that could help them in their daily lives. CID's Independent Living Skills Program assists people with disabilities to identify resources, strategies, and equipment for achieving maximum independence. These services can range from arranging for someone to learn better ways of accomplishing tasks, to identifying in-home modifications, to assisting someone to identify, evaluate, and find funding for appropriate assistive devices for home or work.

A topic of interest for seniors is the Fall Prevention Task Force. The San Mateo County Fall Prevention Task Force is a coalition of 30 agencies throughout San Mateo County and beyond dedicated to reducing falls among the older adult members of our community.
