Testing Site Information
Testing for COVID-19 is available for everyone who lives or works in San Mateo County regardless of symptoms. San Mateo County has recently increased testing capacity by almost 5,000 tests per week. New appointments and testing locations are now available.
The COVID-19 diagnostic test is safe, easy and at no-cost to you regardless of where you receive it (insurance may be billed when available). This test will not indicate if you previously had COVID-19.


San Mateo County COVID-19 Testing
  • Call 211 or (800) 273-6222 any time with non-emergency, non-medical questions about COVID 19 (about testing, county guidelines, etc.)
  • Visit https://www.smcgov.org/testing
Optum and United Health Group
  • San Mateo County has partnered with Optum and UnitedHealth Group to provide COVID testing for our community
  • Anyone who lives or works in the county can be tested
    • The test is no-cost and is available to anyone without restriction
    • Insurance coverage is not required, but an appointment is
  • Testing is available on a rolling basis throughout San Mateo County

CVS Minute Clinic
  • Drive-up coronavirus available with appointment at CVS locations throughout San Mateo County

Dignity Health GoHealth Urgent Care Virtual Visit
  • Connect via video with a licensed provider who will follow CDC guidelines to evaluate patients and determine the most appropriate care, including rapid COVID 19 testing, if necessary
  • • Virtual Visits have zero cost to patients under Medicare/Medicaid and most other major insurance plans during the public health emergency

  • Society of St. Vincent de Paul of San Mateo
    • Volunteers visit homes to lend a hand and heart during a time of crisis. The need addressed may be funds to pay for rent or utilities, hunger, diapers, a prescription bill, or transportation assistance – so that an individual can get to work to have the ability to pay bills.
  • Coastside Hope
    • Emergency rental assistance for residents who live in the City of Half Moon Bay or surrounding unincorporated areas and work in Half Moon Bay
  • Housing Industry Foundation
    • Offering grants of up to $2,500 “last resort funding” for residents of San Mateo and Santa Clara counties
    • Can be used for rent, security deposit, or utilities
    • If received, funds are paid directly to the landlord/property management
  • YMCA South San Francisco
    • Safety net services to San Mateo County residents including emergency rental assistance
  • Daly City Community Service Center
    • Crisis intervention services include housing assistance
  • Puente de la Costa Sur
    • Economic security services include financial assistance with rent

    • The Digital Access Project is a program of CFILC that supports people with disabilities in getting internet services at a lower cost, perfect for those who have limited incomes.

Mental/Behavioral Health Support
  • Headspace
    • This year has affected all of us in different ways. Headspace and San Mateo County Behavioral Health and Recovery Services are working together to provide free resources that can help residents weather this storm. If you live, work or go to school in San Mateo County, sign up to access Headspace meditations, sleep sounds, and movement exercises designed to help you care for your mind — all free through August 2021.

    • CalHOPE builds community resiliency and helps people recover from disasters through free outreach, crisis counseling, and support services.
  • State of CA Resources for Emotional Support and Well-Being
    • Strategies for managing stress and hotlines if you need someone to talk to
  • Mental Health Association of San Francisco Peer-Run Warm Line
    • The Peer-Run Warm Line (1-855-845-7415) is a non-emergency resource for anyone in California seeking emotional support. They provide assistance via phone and webchat on a nondiscriminatory basis to anyone in need.
  • ​NAMI San Mateo
    • ​NAMI SMC has compiled a Remote Access Resource Guide that may be helpful for individuals with a mental health diagnosis and their family members
  • NAMI Connections Zoom Support
    • ​Free peer-led support group for adults living with mental illness. Meets Mondays and Thursday from 7-8:30pm
  • NIMH Livestream Event: Managing Stress and Anxiety
    • ​To kick-off the new year, the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) will host a livestream event on managing stress and anxiety on Thursday, January 14, 2021, from 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. ET. During this event, Krystal Lewis, Ph.D., a licensed clinical psychologist at NIMH, will discuss coping techniques on how to maintain your mental health during the pandemic and when to get professional help.
