CID Services Housing Accessibility Modification (HAM)

Housing accessibility modifications are a major concern for people with disabilities in San Mateo County. The major emphasis in CID's housing efforts is our Housing Accessibility Modification Program (HAM). Through this program, CID installs ramps, handrails, grab bars, vertical lifts and other modifications to make homes accessible. These modifications assist people with disabilities to remain at home or move back into their home with greater independence, and not be forced into skilled nursing or other institutional care.

Home Accessibility Modifications are free of charge to individuals who meet the income requirements.

Funding available in San Mateo County, Daly City, Redwood City, South San Francisco, and the city of San Mateo.

Please note: Through its AT and HAM programs, CID staff and contractors may make recommendations for equipment and modifications that could benefit a consumer's independence. However, we do not have an occupational therapist on our staff. If you are looking for an occupational therapist to make an assessment, we recommend contacting your medical provider.
